How to Mirror in AutoCAD
Let us consider a simple example, See the figure below, we will learn how to use mirror command in autocad

Now let’s see how we can perform the Command.
Mirror Command in AutoCAD From Dynamic Input
With Dynamic Input ON and by typing MI, the mirror command in autocad can be displayed as show in figure below

As you select, you get the prompt to select the Objects. When you select the rectangle from Figure 1, you will get the prompt
Select Objects: 1 found,
Select Objects: 1 found, 2 total
Select Objects: 1 found, 3 total
Select Objects: 1 found, 4 total
Since the line drawn was not a poly line, we had 4 selections. Now you will be prompted to specify the first point of the mirror line, see figure below
As you select the second point, which is usually a Vertical line selection or by pressing F8, ” Ortho ON” you can create the Mirror Object. However, you will be prompted
” Erase Source Object “ selecting the Option NO from Command Prompt or by typing “N” the source and object is retained.

Mirror Text in AutoCAD
When we mirror text in AutoCAD it appears as if we are seeing the text in a mirror ( appearing in reverse direction ). How to change this ?
Change the System Variable MIRRTEXT:
- <0> keeps the text readable after being mirrored
- <1> mirrors the text direction
Tips 2: In a drawing when we want to Mirror Text and Dimensions, we should not get the mirror image, how do we tackle this ?

Text and dimensions will always mirror as part of XREF. Its always advisable to create a separate XREF only for Text and Dimensions and later carry out Mirror Command in AutoCAD
