Drawing has come from ages. The human being has always felt the need to represent all that surrounds him, finding in drawing, the most interesting means to carry out this desire. The first drawings goes back to the Superior Paleolithic , 35.000 years ago, when the Homo sapiens represented on the cave surfaces of the caves or on the skin of the coats, animals that he hunted. An example of this artistic manifestation can be found in the cave paintings of the caves of Altamira, in Cantabria (Spain).
Well, that’s more on the history side of the drawing. Now let’s see how we can represent all the above ideas on AutoCAD using Drawing Units. Now when we draw in AutoCAD, we just specify the start point and end point (when drawing line). However, we need to make sure what type of entry is the start point and end point – its Millimeter, Centimeter, Meter, Inches, Feet or even in Kilometer 🙂
In AutoCAD its always better to draw to actual scale when let’s say you are drawing residential floor plan. Its always better to set / draw to actual scale with units. Otherwise there is always a possibility that your 10 feet room can draw wrongly to 10 inches and land up to trouble.
Now let’s see how to setup Drawing Units in AutoCAD Software.
Now when you type Units with DYN ON in AutoCAD, click on UNITS as shown above. You will be taken to AutoCAD Drawing Units. Its here you setup the different drawing units in autocad
